With a timeless and elegant design, this gate now guards the entrance to the Shaw town-home in Bozeman, MT.

The gate needed to be designed and built to extremely tight tolerances since the rock work, and steel flanges for hinge and latch were all installed during a remodel. It was nearly a year later when the gate design was selected.  Fortunately MC2’s unique method of precision design, layout, and construction favors meeting exacting standards.

The gate was zinc plated and then powder-coated to match other metalwork on the home.  Additionally, a custom latching system was designed and built to meet owner specifications.

Just before final assembly the clients decided against exact symmetry (something we tend to be fond of) and instead decided to accent the work with a single piece of teak to draw visitors attention towards to opening side of the gate.

Despite the substantial weight, the gate glides almost effortlessly on ball bearing hinges. The now-familiar clap of the latch opening and closing has become a welcome sound to the Shaws as it announces visitors.

In addition to the gate, the commission included a matching solid door to hide sprinkler system controls and other utilities.
